ABOUT
As the label suggests, the Foundation Phase establishes the groundwork, not only for learning, but more importantly, for the approach to learning. While the delivery of the curriculum lies at the core of our work, we are equally committed to the holistic development of each learner. Instead of ensuring that each learner understands concepts in the various subjects, we focus on how each learner learns and discovers.
We are committed to instilling the love and curiosity for learning and equipping each learner with the tools required to face new situations with the ability to think, apply and solve. We are employing new teaching methodologies and we embrace the evolution of the classroom from a place of instruction to a haven of discovery.
We want our learners to leave with a sense of confidence, an understanding of who they are, with the ability to express themselves freely and to fully articulate their experiences and dreams.
ACADEMIC PROGRAMME
We teach the core subjects of English, Afrikaans, Mathematics and Life Skills. Our Islamiaat program includes Qur’aan, Surahs, Duas, Fiqh, Aqaaid, Tarikh, Hadeeth and Arabic. All subjects are underpinned by our value system which includes love, responsibility, kindness, respect and tolerance, to name a few.
Each subject further reinforces valuable skills required for effective learning, like independence, seeking excellence and taking responsibility. We employ various differentiated teaching methods to deliver our curriculum to learners who have different learning styles and abilities.
We provide a strong school-based support structure for learners who require additional assistance to achieve their full potential. We also have a synchronistic relationship with external professionals who support the process of learning.
These include Educational Psychologists, Occupational Therapists and Speech and Hearing Therapists. We have also introduced an annual eyesight, hearing and speech screening to help detect early signs of challenges in learners.
