Intermediate Phase

Grades 4 – 6

Welcome by the Phase Head

Welcome to the APAX Intermediate Phase – an exciting, transitional phase for our young learners that aims to foster independence, responsibility and solidify the strong foundation of knowledge and values imparted in the foundation phase. We view these three years as vital, as your child acquires a number of new skills, the most important of these being a strong sense of independence.

ABOUT

Our emphasis in the intermediate phase is to reinforce academic skills and develop our learners holistically. We aim to instil in our learners a strong Islamic identity whilst at the same time aiming for excellence in education.  We hope to produce responsible and productive model Muslim citizens who will confidently engage within society and meet the challenges of the future, by promoting an atmosphere in which learners feel loved, safe, valued, understood and respected.

ACADEMIC PROGRAMME

As an independent school registered with the Department of Education, we follow the CAPS curriculum. Our Teaching and Learning Programme incorporates both Secular and Islamic Subjects. The secular subjects offered in this Phase include:

  • English (Home Language)
  • Afrikaans (First Additional Language)
  • Mathematics
  • Natural Science and Technology
  • Social Sciences (History/Geography)
  • Life Skills
